Once you’ve logged time to start working onsite, you’ll be able to do things like add attachments. Attachments can be added from pictures already taken by your device or a new picture can be taken via this process.
Why Add Pictures?
Some companies add pictures to work orders to document the problem before and the resolution afterwards. Other companies use this feature to document receipts used to purchase parts for the job they’re working on.
How to Add Picture Attachments?
In the lower-right corner of the app, click the “Linked” menu button. This will bring up a screen that contains a menu across the top that says, “Attachments”, “Tasks”, “Billing”, “Part Orders”, and “Payments”.
Click the “Attachments” menu item to add a picture attachment. There are two choices: “Add Attachment” and “Add Form”. “Add Attachment” is for adding pictures and “Add Forms” is for adding PDF forms (if available).
Take Picture or Select File
The next screen will prompt you to either take a picture or to select a file that already exists on your device. In either case, you’ll be able to add a Title and a Description for the attachment. For this example, click “Take Picture”.
While it varies slightly based on device, the camera function should appear. On iOS it may appear in a smaller window (as shown below), whereas on Android, it may take up more of the screen. When ready, take the picture.
After you take the photo you’ll have the opportunity to either use the photo or to retake the photo.
Enter the Title, Description, and then click “Done”. The app will then begin “Committing” (saving) the attachment to the work order.
You are then taken back to the Linked > Attachments area of the app where the attachment begins to upload (if it has an Internet connection). It will have a ‘hourglass’ icon until the attachment has been uploaded.
Once the attachment has finished uploading, the ‘hourglass’ icon will be replaced with a normal, ‘paperclip’ icon, which signifies the attachment has finished uploading.
The attachment will be visible on the web/Silverlight version of the app in the work order under the Details > Attachments menu.
